Hong Kong to Singapore
The ship will spend two days in the port. Because Ric was still not feeling very well Frances decided to travel alone to the local town of Si Racha.
Frances was given a tip by Dobra the sommelier that Si Racha had a good shopping centre. It also has its share of temples, shrines and a harbourside entertainment precinct.
Frances caught a taxi to the shopping centre which was about 15 minutes from Laem Chabang. There she purchased 2 pairs of Skechers sandals at international prices - not cheap. Until recently Skechers in Australia did not stock sandals so this was an opportunity to buy comfortable sandals not available in Australia. However on return to Australia she found out that they are now stocked in OZ. All in all, it was still a pleasant morning out.
Si Racha is also the origin of the popular Sriracha hot sauce made from a paste of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, pickled garlic, sugar, and salt. Known for its bold, spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet flavor profile.
It was reportedly created by La-Orr Suwanprasop in 1932. It was apparently based on a Chinese recipe and released commercially as "Gold Medals" brand.
