Day 13

Singapore to Hong Kong 2025

Hong Kong

 The ship terminal
In the morning, the ship docked at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong Harbour on the Kowloon side. Everyone had to disembark, including us as we were being moved to another cabin, with a balcony!

We had planned to travel to Macau for the day, we realised that it wasn't possible to return to the ship in time in the afternoon.

Instead, we decided to spend the day around Kowloon and caught a local bus from the cruise terminal down to the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.

The bus slowly wound its way through the streets and extremely heavy traffic and just travelling a fairly comparatively short distance took about one hour.

The bus route

We arrived at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade and walked along the "Avenue of Stars", Hong Kong's answer to the "Hollywood Walk of Fame". It features handprints and statues of mainly Hong Kong movie stars and views across Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island.

We spent a little time walking around the area before catching a return bus for the return journey. Surprisingly it was exactly the same bus and same friendly driver which had brought us to the harbour.

Although we didn't see a lot of Hong Kong, we did get a strong impression of the densely packed former British colony as the bus travelled through streets surrounded by high-rise buildings.

Leaving Hong Kong
Although we only had one day on Hong Kong, it certainly made an impression on us, particularly the magnitude of high-rise buildings, although we did see some small "rest parks" from the bus.

We re-boarded the ship in the afternoon, and that evening the ship left port for the return journey to Singapore. Start the return journey bak to Singapore: Day 14 - At Sea.
