Day 2

Singapore to Hong Kong 2025

At Sea
Outside the Sky Lounge
This was the first day at sea and I was scheduled to present a tai chi class.

Not knowing what to expect, I wore my traditional red and black tai chi outfit  which I though would be more impressive that the usual black polo and pants.

The venue was moved from the rooftop lawn area which was quite exposed to the interior Sky Lounge, a venue which is mainly a bar with a dance floor and a stage area.

This first Tai Chi class on board
I arrived early and set up the audio and microphone which worked really well.

The class was due to start at 9 am, however by 8:50 am more than 20 people had turned up and was sitting and waiting for the class.

To fill in time, I talked a bit about tai chi and qigong, and then by 9 am the lounge was packed. The cruise director estimated that almost 100 people turned up by the end of the class.

The class went quite smoothly, starting with the 3-part ShiBaShi, although I suspect those at the rear did not see very well.

I spoke later to the man at the rear wearing a blue jacket who turned out to be Sam Ma, a Qigong and Tai Chi master from Britain. We kept in contact during the cruise, sharing some of our experiences and knowledge teaching Tai Chi.

Frances and I spent the rest of the day on the ship, making use of the facilities and activities.

In the afternoon we attended a matinee show of a young violinist playing pop music with a backing band. We then watched part of a movie in the small movie theatre, Ordinary Angels, but left before it finished - not that good.

That evening at dinner in the Epernay restaurant, we again met the Scottish couple Rick and June.
